The International Fencing Federation has seen that more and more masks have fallen in international tournaments for several years.

So FIE judged that the conventional metal strip was no longer sufficient to maintain the mask correctly, and therefore ordered a standardization for the national and international tournaments.

FIE masks must now be equipped with a strip and a new strap, which ensure a more efficient support.
